Summer Program and Family Memberships
Senobe’s Summer Paddling Program offers a full summer of paddling instruction for registered paddlers, as well as allowing the whole family to enjoy the experience of Family Membership at Senobe. Registered paddlers and their families have use of club premises, including our beach and family changing room.
Paddlers registered for the Summer Paddling Program will be divided into groups by age category and will receive age-appropriate paddling instruction from Senobe’s coaching staff, under the supervision of our Head Coach, Rob Baert. Adjustments to groups may be made by the coaching staff from time-to-time to ensure that paddlers receive instruction appropriate to their skill level.
The minimum age to register for the Summer Paddling Program is 7 (as of January 1, 2020). However younger siblings can get on the water for complimentary “kiddie canoe” and U7 paddling sessions with our coaches.
Paddling programs run on weekdays and generally run “rain or shine” (coaches have the discretion to cancel practices if conditions are unsafe). Registered paddlers will have two practices per day (morning/afternoon). Detailed schedules will be available at the beginning of the summer.
Registered paddlers will have the opportunity to participate in regattas (racing events with other clubs). Regattas are not mandatory, but they are a lot of fun! U10 regattas are usually held on weekdays, with regattas for U12 and above happening on weekends.
The Summer Paddling Program is not a child-care program. Parents are responsible for ensuring that children under 12 are supervised while on Club premises (other than when children are on the water under the supervision of a coach). Parents may make private arrangements for supervision or may enroll their registered paddler in the Members’ Day-Camp Program as an add-on to family membership.
Safety is a priority at Senobe. Paddlers must complete a basic swimming test at the beginning of the season. All paddlers U16 and under must wear a personal flotation device (PFD) while on the water. Paddlers must provide their own PFD.
Members’ Day-camp Program (add-on to family membership)
Parents are responsible for ensuring that children under 12 are supervised while on Club premises (other than when children are on the water under the supervision of a coach. The Members’ Day-camp Program is offered to provide off-water supervision for registered paddlers in a format that is fun for paddlers and convenient for families. Members’ Day-camp fees are $675 for one child and $500 for each additional child in the same family.
Members’ Day-camp is offered on a full-summer basis only. Day-camp supervision is offered weekday, from 8:00am to 5:30.
The Members’ Day-camp Program operates regardless of weather (even when paddling is cancelled). Off-water activities include swimming at Senobe’s supervised beach, beach play-time, crafts, movies, games and more. Meals are not included. Campers may bring a lunch or purchase a lunch from our on-site canteen.
