The summer paddling program runs from July 2nd - August 30th and is open to participants 5 years of age and up. No paddling experience is required. Participants should enjoy water and be comfortable around it.

Important: All children born 2013 or later require either an accompanying adult to be at the club, or be registered for off-water supervision.

A day at the club

If you are unfamiliar with the canoe club experience, understanding what a day at the lake looks like can be difficult. Your child’s day at Senobe will differ quite a bit from what you might expect from a traditional day camp experience (HRM Rec, Dal science camp, etc).

While there is organized paddling time for your child - between two and three hours per day depending on their age - the rest of their day will be filled with fun in the sun, swimming, playing on the beach, and enjoying snacks from the canteen. While no two days at Senobe are the same, a day for your child MIGHT look like this.

Sample Day

Leo. Age 5

Leo spends his days at Senobe with his family, and is not part of the off-water supervision program.

9:00 - 10:00 organized dragon boat practice with his U7 paddling group, and coaches Ben, and Alex. Everybody got to jump out at the end!

10:00 - 10:30 Playing in the sand with his friends.

10:30 - 11:30 Organized kayak practice with his U7 paddling group, and coaches Molly and Alex.

11:30 - 12:00 Lunch, packed from home + a little dessert  (ice cream!) purchased from the canteen!

12:00 - 12:15 Shooting some hoops

12:15 - 12:30 Chasing his friend Bodie around

12:30 - 12:45 Swimming because he’s hot!

12:45 - 1:00 Check in with dad to get some more sunscreen on, then digging a BIG hole in the sand

1:00 - 1:15 More swimming, because he’s hot again!

1:15 - 2:00 Getting buried in the sand!

2:00 - 2:25 Another canteen snack, because, why not!

2:25 - 2:45 Getting pretty tired, so a short lay down in the family’s tent.

2:45 - 3:30 Re-energized, so he’s going swimming again!

3:30 Leo is totally spent now. Time to pack up and go home. Back again tomorrow!

Payment and Refund Policy

Payments must be received in full prior to the start of the summer program.

For new members only: If you are not satisfied with your Senobe experience after two weeks, you may withdraw from the program, and receive a refund for the remaining 6 weeks of the program. Withdraw date is July 16th. For all others, no refunds will be issued.

CKC fees

CKC fees are fees that the club must pay to the sport's governing body, Canoe Kayak Canada. Fees increase as athletes get older, but range from $57 - $92 per paddler.

Off-Water Supervision (formerly known as Members' Daycamp)

Children who were born in 2013 or after require supervision while at the club.

Paddlers will always be supervised by coaching staff during their scheduled paddling sessions, but not between sessions. If you (or a babysitter, or relative) are unable to physically be at Senobe during the day to fill that duty, you must enroll your child in the Off-water Supervision add on.
