General summer program information:

  • At the discretion of the coaching staff, a paddler may be placed with a different age group if doing so would be a better match for the paddler’s abilities.
  • Paddling practices proceed rain or shine. In the case of extreme weather, such as high winds, or thunder and lighting, on-water programming may be cancelled to ensure paddler safety.
  • The practice schedule for each age group will be posted in late spring.
  • Paddlers in U10, U12, U14 and U16 will have the opportunity to race in regattas through the summer. Racing is not mandatory but it is an important part of the sport of sprint paddling (and it is one of the most fun parts!). See here for more info on regattas.
  • Each paddler must provide their own personal flotation device (PFD).
  • The club will be closed on Monday, August 3rd (Natal Day).
  • We anticipate operating a modified program during the week of August 24 to 28th due to some staff members attending the Canoe Kayak Canada National Championships in Ottawa.
  • Paddlers must be born in 2019 or earler to be eligible for registration in our Summer Programs. We offer a complementary “Kiddie Kayak” session for younger siblings. Kiddie Kayak gives our youngest paddlers an opportunity to go out on the water with an experienced coach.  Kiddie Kayak is held Monday to Thursday for one hour.  No registration is necessary for Kiddie Kayak.
